Stop Dog Biting

You can stop ALL Dog Biting Problems Without Bloodshed

If you have a dog that bites, you have a real problem as you already know. This behavior is unacceptable and must be corrected. Biting on any level is a clear domination (who is in charge here) issue. If your dog is biting or nipping, you are not in charge, you are not the pack leader.

It does not matter the size or breed of your dog. The cute little 10lb terrier can become just as much of a problem as a full sized Cattle Dog. When you accept and succumb to biting as "normal" you are then accepting your role as your dogs subordinate.

NO, no, no!

First let's make note, if you know you have a dog that bites, and I mean really bites (as in blood and pain), then you may want to seek the help and aid of a professional dog trainer. I say this, because when dealing with this level of aggressive biting behavior (dog bites people or other dogs) the chance of you getting bitten while correcting the problem is pretty good. If you can live with this, then proceed with caution.

I have a dominant Cattle Dog and I have been bitten hard many times while we worked out who was in charge. I have prevailed and would trust him not to hurt someone that did not have ill intentions.

Perhaps your dog doesn't draw blood but just nips you, maybe a scratch, just a pant leg, or it could even seem playful. This is unacceptable and still yields the same end result. A member of the pack would NEVER bite or nip the pack leader unless they wanted an ass whoopin. This is the way of the pack. The Pack leader gets the utmost respect from all it's pack members unless the leadership is being challenged.

This does not mean you should ever give your dog an ass whoopin, never ever do this.

Biting can be handled without getting hurt or hurting your dog.

You need to be consistent (as well as all family members) and patient.

Biting and aggression go hand in hand, so you must understand the cause, and take back your role as pack leader.

Dealing with a biting dog means you must be equipped (mentally) to deal with it. Understand the pack, and you understand how to reclaim your role as pack leader.

This applies even to the nipping dog. A good pack leader commands respect at all times.

We have several article dealing with dog and puppy biting and the different levels, as well as a whole section about pack leadership.
